Pebble, Modular Furniture System

Pebble in use with stools.

Project Description

Meet Pebble! A modular, multi-functional, and customisable furniture system for space-saving. Inspired by Wilkhahn, Pebble takes on the role of entering an otherwise untapped product genre, modular home systems. Comprised of 4 key units: 2 stools, a small table, and a large table. Pebble provides a alternative uses whilst maintaining one key functionality, storage. These 4 units provide users with opportunities to tailor their Pebble to how they live and work, whether that’s utilising the large unit as a desk, or the smaller cabinets as stools for entertaining guests, Pebble can truly be used how you want, all whilst nesting into a much smaller footprint.

Pebble’s creation comes as a necessity for many, as housing and apartment sizes shrink and supply doesn’t quite reach demand on the housing market, many people are finding themselves settling for smaller dwellings. To combat this, I aimed to create a furniture system that allowed for flexibility and space-saving, allowing users to fit multiple furniture pieces into one. Pebble successfully achieved this aim, fitting 2 stools, a large table, and a small table into the footprint of a media console, all whilst maintaining storage and without sacrificing style.

Pebble in space, a single stool pulled out.

Pebble fully nested.
